So the plan for my next blog post has been postponed, much like most things in our society these days. I've decided that for the next 3 weeks I'm going to turn my attention to sharing with folks how I'm turning this massive bag of lemons of a 3 week furlough into the biggest, sweetest fucking glass of lemonade possible.
What that looks like exactly remains to be seen but I've got some ideas and there are a few things I know will happen for sure. They include, but of course are not limited to:
copious dog snuggles
quality time with the wife
siding our house (let's be real, I'm just the muscle of the operation)
weekly Zoom trivia nights
garden planting and tending
spring cleaning and purging
attempting to entertain a few bored readers through this blog
I have no doubt that other things will come up and keep me entertained between now and the time this 3 week mini mandantory unpaid vacation comes to an end. I only hope I'm able to provide a little relief for myself and others as this bear wanders and wonders through the unknown.
Here are 10 noteworthy facts to start the lemonade stand of refreshing uncertainty:
Our little family has been in self-isolation for 21 days and are all symptom free.
I miss grocery shopping.
The local lumber company delivers homegrown toilet paper when in stock.
Our mail carrier has expressed his excitement to see the finished product (referring to our current home remodeling adventure).
The neighbors approve of our home improvement projects and paint color selection.
I rekindled my deep seated dislike for painting and have been painfully reminded of my degenerate disk.
I've managed to become an unemployment system navigation wizard, working toward Jedhi status (wait, which one equals the most mastery?).
While I haven't visited a National Park Site in months, I have had the opportunity to wear my official NPS Park Ranger flat hat.
I've revisted the creation of art in various forms.
I will likely be more frugal for the rest of my life.
**Bonus: The sun is shining today.**
I can appreciate the sweet and sour combination that is our life right now. I don't know what's coming in the next three weeks, three months or even three years. But I do know that I won't be thirsty. I'm raising a glass...here's to you pandemic.
